Please take the time to read the following information.

Do you have Male and Female Instructors?
Yes BDS can offer male and female instructors; all are fully qualified and have modern vehicles.

Do you offer lessons in an Automatic Car?
Yes BDS can offer lessons in an automatic.

Do BDS offer lessons at Night / Weekends?
We have a variety of instructors, all work at different times we are sure will be able to find an instructor that will be able to accommodate the hours that suit you best.

Where will the instructor pick me up from?
The instructor will pick you up from home, college or work, whatever suits you.

How long are your lessons?
All BDS Lessons are for at least 1 hour.   Longer lessons can be booked if required.   You may find other schools quoting less per lesson but you may find that they are shorter lessons, i.e 20, 30 or 40 minutes lessons

How much are your lessons?
BDS have manual and automatic vehicles, we also have a variety of booking options, however lessons start from only £15, phone FREE on 0800 074 0132 for more information.  We offer discounts for block booking and off many FREE extras such as FREE Help with Theory Test, and FREE Motorway drives.
Remember it is not always best to be driven by price alone, cheaper lessons do not always mean the best – If they are too cheap how do they recover their costs?
       Do they have modern vehicles?
Do they put in for test or do they drag your lessons out to get more
       money out of you?
Do they offer full hour lessons, or are they 40 minutes?
       Are they fully qualified?
How much experience can they offer you?
Do you share a car with other people?

BDS have been established for over 10 years and so have built our reputation up from recommendations,  we offer the backup of an established form with a dedicated answer service.

How can BDS be so competitive?
BDS has been established for a number of years, the majority of our customers come from recommendations however as we have been established for so long we know what advertising works and therefore can pass the savings onto the pupils.

Are your instructors qualified?

BDS only use fully qualified instructors, those with Green badges.  You may find that some schools use Trainee instructors (pink badges) you may get lessons cheaper but how much experience do these instructors have?

What cars do BDS have?
BDS have a number of instructors that cover the whole of the Fylde Coast, we have a variety of vehicles all of which are modern and have Dual Controls fitted for your safety and peace of mind.

Will I keep the same instructor throughout my training?
Yes, unlike other driving schools, (and some of them the National Organisations), you will keep the same instructor every week, unless of course you want to change!

Do BDS provide the Intensive Courses?

BDS do not provide Intensive courses as such.  We can condense your learning where you pay for a block booking and can have as many lessons as you want per day or per week.   This way you get every hour you pay for !!
Beware of rogue schools providing Intensive Courses.  It has been known that you could get charged £700 - £900 for a week long course, where you take your theory test mid week and practical test at the end of the week.  Ask yourself a few questions....
1. What happens if you fail your theory test on the Wednesday?  Do you get your money back for not being able to take your practical driving test?
2. Great – You pass your test on the Wednesday! This means that they can now book your Practical test.... guess what?  It WILL NOT BE IN BLACKPOOL.  The waiting time for most tests is 2-6 weeks, if they book a test on the Wednesday it is very unlikely that your test will be in Blackpool, it could be as far away as Wales or York.  Ok so that may not be a problem because you are taught to drive on any road, but you will probably lose a day learning to drive by travelling to your test!
3.  BDS only provide 1-2-1 lessons (which means that you do not share a car with anyone else) Some of these intensive courses you share a car with 2 other pupils, and ALL the time you are in the car is classed as learning.  So you may pay £800 for the course and only get 20 hours behind the wheel if you are lucky!  That works out at an incredible £40 per hour.

So ask yourself a question..... Do you want to put yourself under all that pressure??
At BDS we recommend that if you want to pass your test quickly, simply buy in block bookings and have as many lessons as you can manage in a shorter time.  If you take 2 or 3 lessons a week you should pass quicker than only taking one hour a week.

Tests
The Driving Standards Agency state that you should not present yourself for a driving test until your driving is up to the required standard, The length of training to reach this standard varies greatly from one individual to another. Therefore it is in your own interest to take your instructors advice on when to take the driving test, as it is false economy and very dangerous to present yourself for a test too early. If you put yourself in for driving test and your instructor feels you are not ready he may withdraw the use of the driving school car and his / her ADI number from your test application. Click here for more information on the Driving Tests.

Books to read
The Driving Standards Agency recommend that you read books "The Driving Manual", "Your Driving Test" and "The Highway Code". All these are published by the Driving Standards Agency and are available from most bookshops and libraries.

Theory Test

If you have not already taken your theory test please make it a priority, you are not able to take your Driving Test until you have passed your theory. Your instructor has past exam sheets for sale should you require any further assistance. Click here for more information on the Theory Test.
